If you ride a UTV long enough, you will get stuck. Mud, sand, snow, a hidden rut, a wet tree root that pulled your front tire sideways. It's not a question of if. It's a question of whether you have the right gear in the back when it happens.
A complete UTV recovery kit is the difference between a 20-minute pull and a six-hour walk. This is what we recommend you carry, why you carry it, and what we put in our own kits before any trail run. American family operated, lifetime warranty on every Rhino USA recovery piece.
The framework every smart rider uses on the trail: Recognize, Reduce, Recover.
Most people skip step two and jump straight to yanking on a rope. That's the most common off-road recovery mistake we see. Save your machine, save your rope, save your back.
A solid kit is built around the three things that get a side-by-side unstuck: traction, pull, and protection. Every Rhino USA component here is backed by lifetime warranty.

A kinetic recovery rope is the most important single piece of UTV recovery gear. It stretches up to 30 percent under load and snaps back, generating enough kinetic energy to pop a stuck UTV out of mud, sand, or deep snow without shock-loading the chassis. Our 1" x 10' Kinetic Rope Recovery Kit is rated to 33,600 lbs and ships with two soft shackles. For larger UTVs and full-size trucks, the 7/8" x 30' Kinetic Recovery Rope Kit gives you more length for two-vehicle pulls.

Soft shackles are the safer connector at every joint in your recovery setup. They replace steel D-rings at the fabric loop connection points. Our 1/2" Synthetic Soft Shackles are rated to 46,000 lb break strength, weigh almost nothing, and won't turn into a projectile if a strap or hook breaks. The 3/8" Synthetic Soft Shackles are the lighter medium-duty option at 31,400 lb break strength.

A static tow strap is for towing a disabled UTV back to the trailer or out of a tight spot under steady force. Use a tow strap when you don't need stretch. Use a kinetic rope when you do. For mid-size UTV recovery work, the 2" x 20' Ultimate Recovery Tow Strap is the right call.
A snatch block doubles your winch's pulling power and lets you change the angle of pull to bypass an obstacle or anchor point. The Recovery Snatch Block is the single most useful piece of recovery gear that most riders skip. Don't skip it.

Traction boards give you immediate grip in deep mud, sand, or snow and don't require a second vehicle. Wedge them under the drive wheels and crawl out. The Recovery Traction Boards (Pair) work in pairs and stack on most UTV roll cages.
The common debate of 2 vs 4 boards comes down to this: two will get you out of most stucks. Four lets you put boards under all four wheels at once for the worst situations. If your kit has the room, carry four.

A folding shovel clears debris around your tires and preps the ground for traction boards. It's also useful for digging fire pits and burying trash on overnight rides. The Ultimate Survival Shovel is built from heavy-duty carbon steel with a multi-position lock for digging, hoeing, and chopping.
A portable air compressor closes the loop on airing down and airing back up. You can't get maximum traction without dropping pressure first. You also can't safely drive home on aired-down tires. The 12V Dual-Tire Air Compressor handles two tires at once and gets the whole UTV back to road pressure fast. Pair it with the Pro Tire Deflator Kit for fast on-trail airing down.
A puncture on the trail without a plug kit is a long walk. The 14-Piece Compact Tire Repair Kit lives in a glove box or door pocket and plugs most field punctures in a few minutes.
A 1A10BC dry chemical fire extinguisher is required for legal trail riding in many areas and just plain smart everywhere else. Hot exhaust plus dry brush is how trails get closed.
Round out your kit with a first-aid kit (bandages, antiseptic, basic trauma supplies) and a spare drive belt with the tools to swap it on the trail. Belts are a common UTV failure point. Carry the right one for your machine.
A pair of recovery gloves protects your hands from cuts and abrasions. Our Off-Road / Mechanic Gloves handle recovery, trail repairs, and camp work. Hold the whole kit in a Heavy-Duty Storage Bag so it stays organized and accessible in the cargo area.
A solid UTV recovery kit runs $200 to $500 depending on what's included. Basic kits start around $175 and cover the essentials in a compact bag. Higher-end kits push past $500 and add components for complex recoveries: long kinetic ropes, multiple shackles, a snatch block, traction boards, and a winch line dampener.
The math is simple. A $300 kit pays for itself the first time it saves a $20,000 machine.

The fastest way to outfit your side-by-side is to bundle the core pieces. Our 1" x 10' Kinetic Rope Recovery Kit packages a kinetic rope with soft shackles in one box, sized for UTVs and Jeeps. Add the Recovery Snatch Block and a set of Recovery Traction Boards, and you have everything most riders will ever need.

Every Rhino USA recovery product is American family operated and backed by a lifetime warranty. If something fails on the trail, we replace it. No paperwork, no run-around.
Recovery starts before you even leave the driveway. A UTV that bounces loose on the highway is a much bigger problem than a stuck UTV on the trail.
The UTV Wheel Chock Tie-Down Kit locks the front wheels in place while ratchet straps pin the chassis. For frequent haulers, our 2" x 10' Retractable Ratchet Straps eliminate the tangled-strap mess and auto-retract back into the housing when you're done. 3,033 lb break strength per strap, soft loops included.
For traditional ratchet strap setups, the 1.6" x 8' HD Ratchet Tie-Down Set (4-Pack) handles full-size UTVs at 5,000 lb break strength per strap.
Air down the tires, dig out around the wheels, lay a traction board under the drive tires, and crawl out under low throttle. If that doesn't work, hook a kinetic rope to a second UTV or a winch and pull at the angle of best approach.
Same process for any side-by-side. Polaris machines have factory recovery loops on the front and rear bumper supports on most models. Hook into those, never into the bumper plastic or unrated points.
Air down to about 5-7 PSI, dig clearance under the chassis, lay traction boards, and crawl out under low throttle. Pin the throttle and you'll dig deeper.
Either the drive belt is slipping or broken, the wheels are buried past the chassis, or you've got debris jammed in the drive components. Start with a visual check before pulling.
Kinetic rope stretches under load and snaps back to free a stuck UTV without shock-loading the chassis. Tow strap is static, for steady pulls and towing disabled machines back to the trailer. Carry both.
Yes, if you ride solo or in remote terrain. A snatch block doubles your winch's pulling power and lets you redirect the line around obstacles. One of the most affordable upgrades you can make to a UTV recovery setup.
$200-$300 for a basic kit (kinetic rope, soft shackles, gloves, shovel). $400-$500 with traction boards and a snatch block. A $300 kit pays for itself the first time it saves a $20,000 machine.
In a heavy-duty storage bag mounted somewhere accessible: behind the seats, in the bed, or on a roof rack. A recovery kit at the bottom of a packed UTV is a kit that doesn't get used.
1/2 inch synthetic soft shackles rated 32,000 lb break strength cover full-size UTV and small truck recovery. 3/8 inch shackles at 22,000 lb break strength work for lighter UTV and ATV use.
